“I am convinced that the greatest barrier to the Christian in America experiencing full freedom in Christ is our understanding of and obedience to the teachings of the Bible on money.”
-Paul Hunter, Senior Pastor
Money is one of the most talked-about subjects in Scripture and one of the least talked-about in the church. Jesus knew that where your treasure goes, your heart follows.
For many of us, money has become less of a tool and more of a master, bringing stress, division, and a quiet anxiety that never quite goes away.
But what if there was another way? What if the path to financial peace isn’t earning more or budgeting better, but something far more radical: letting go?
This isn’t about funding a project. It’s an invitation to transformation.

WEEK 1: The Owner's Manual
What if the biggest thing standing between you and real freedom in Christ isn’t what you’d expect?
Pastor Paul kicks off our series with a bold claim and a very honest (and pretty funny) story about a Chevelle sitting in his shop. Starting in Psalm 24 and Haggai 2, he shows why God begins every conversation about money with one simple question: whose is it? This message is about freedom, not fundraising. Whether you’ve been giving for years or you’re just starting to explore what the Bible says about money, this is a great place to begin.
Watch the full message, then share it with a friend who needs to hear it.
WEEK 2: The Myth of Mine
If you could ask Jesus anything, what would you ask?
In Luke 12, one man got that exact chance, and his question reveals something in all of us. In Week 2 of Legacy of Freedom, Pastor Paul walks through Jesus’ parable of the Rich Fool. It’s the story of a man with full barns and an empty table, and it shows why a heart that holds on tight ends up poorer than it looks. You’ll also hear the first of three vision pillars God is placing in front of Cornerstone, and why we chose to start with the one that has nothing to do with us. Whether you’re already giving or not sure where to start, you’re not disqualified.
Stories of Freedom
MICHELE
Michele’s story is a powerful picture of what God can do when we trust Him with everything He’s placed in our hands. Take a few minutes to watch, and be encouraged by what freedom can look like in real life.
ERIC & RACHEL
Pastor Eric and Rachel lead Freedom Church, just down the road from us. Cornerstone was blessed to help them launch, and we’re excited to keep walking alongside them as they grow! Their story is a great picture of what happens when a church gives outward, and of the Kingdom work God is doing right here in our own community.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Legacy of Freedom?
A 3-year generosity initiative inviting every household at Cornerstone to experience the freedom that comes when money moves from master to servant.
Is this a capital campaign?
No. We aren’t asking for a dollar amount. We’re asking God to change how we see and handle money, and we believe generous people build things that outlast them.
How much should I give?
That’s between you and God. Start with prayer, begin with Biblical giving, and then ask Him what above and beyond looks like for your household.
What are you asking me to do?
Three things:
- Give Biblically. Honor God first with what He’s entrusted to you.
- Steward well. Learn to manage your finances with wisdom, and let us help.
- Go above and beyond. Pray about giving beyond what you normally give over these 37 months, to help leave a legacy for Jesus.
How much are you trying to raise?
We haven’t set a goal because this isn’t a fundraiser. The one number we’ve committed to is $1.5 million given away to missions over the 37 months. Everything else will grow out of what God does in His people.
Where will the money go?
- Missions: $1.5 million given away to mission partners, church plants, and global efforts
- The next generation: our hope of launching a Christian school in Westmoreland County
- Facilities: expanding our campus through the facilities master plan
